Therapeutic arts is a therapeutic technique rooted in the idea that creative expression can foster self-discovery at a deeper level. Art, either the process of creating it or viewing others artworks, is used to help people explore their emotions, develop self-awareness, cope with stress, boost self-esteem, and work on social skills which are imperative for every walk of life.
The goal of therapeutic arts is to utilize the creative process to help people explore self-expression and, in doing so, find new ways to gain personal insight and develop new coping skills without the need to inhale or consume toxic substances. This helps to increase overall health & well-being.
Techniques used in therapeutic art is not limited to drawing and painting only. We bring a variety of techniques to meet each session objectives. As clients create, they analyze what they have made and how it makes them feel. Through exploring what they have created, people can look for themes and conflicts that may be affecting their thoughts, emotions, and behaviours.
People do not need to have artistic ability or special talent to participate in art wellness, and people of all ages including children, teens, and adults can benefit from it.
